perfume fragrance cologne scent

smell the surf

Simulate the smell of Pacific ocean salt dried into sun-seared flesh with S-Perfume, the first perfume for surfers. Created by Nobi Shioya, a Brooklyn-based sculptor with a background in surfing and surfboard shaping, S-Perfume was directly inspired by the odour of polyester resin, the neoprene rubber of wetsuits and Sex Wax, a type of board wax mixed with the sea. A limited edition of 10,000, S-Perfume comes in packages of five 2ml plastic vials and soaks the skin with a tide of saline freshness and an undercurrent of musk. It's the first project for Shioya's fledgling company Shaping Room who pitched the scent as the installment in an ongoing Olfactory Art Project. The first wave of S-Perfume is a pure blast of salt and oxygen, it dries down into something softer, more musky and reminiscent of childhood's spent on the beach. Sport with Hawaiian prints and dangerously bronze limbs.
